ABOUT

Harness Creek Retrievers produces field champions! Specializing in the breeding and training of chocolate Labrador retrievers for excellence since 1968

Harness Creek Retrievers, originally called Lynnbrook Retrievers, has been breeding, training and competing with the chocolate labrador retriever since 1968. Since then Harness Creek Retrievers has produced numerous field champion chocolate labrador retrievers as well as outstanding gun dogs for both upland game and waterfowl.

Our selective breeding program is tailored to produce a genetically sound Labrador retriever that excels in the field and in performance competitions. We have and will continue to bring together the best in the breed to accomplish our breeding goals. Although we breed all colors of Labradors we have specialized in the Chocolate and our pedigrees reflect the chocolate labrador retriever field champions.

Harness Creek Retrievers began in 1968 with a purchase of a Haverhill Kennels chocolate Labrador retriever named Lynnbrook’s Lady Jason.  Obtained as a family/gun dog, Lady Jason quickly proved the versatility of the Labrador retriever breed.  A companion to owner Tom Neel’s children, and a personal gun dog she could do it all.  She earned the respect of fellow hunters whether chasing pheasants, waiting for the ducks or geese to drop in to a decoy set, or sitting beside her owner in the dove field until commanded to retrieve.  Someone asked Tom recently what title did she have, which he quickly answered as a “DGD”.  The person looked puzzled so Tom elaborated “Darn Good Dog”.  So began his love for the labrador retriever.

Over the years Harness Creek Retrievers has evolved to what it is today: a full time retriever training facility, a breeder of  labrador retrievers specializing in the chocolate color, and a competitor/handler for local, regional and national retriever hunt tests whether sponsored by the American Kennel Club or United Kennel Club.
